Summer in Montreal is a real charm: atmosphere is unbeatable, and it is certainly the favorite season of the city residents. After the electrifying weekend of Montreal Grand Prix, there is a parade of festivals all more interesting than the others. As of early June, the tone is given and the pace is not going to slow down! A few days before Saint-Jean-Baptiste, we have prepared a “HOTEL10”  guide of the best activities to do near the hotel to celebrate our national pride, but also to enjoy this week in the air of holidays between “Quebec” Day (June 24) and Canada Day (July 1). Take out your diaries and pencils and take notes !

On June 23 as of 10 am, it’s “La Saint-Jean in the South-West” with its trade fair and an artistic program starting at 2 pm with coveted artists from the Quebec scene, such as singer-songwriters Alaclair Ensemble, Damien Robitaille, Seba and Horg, Lydia Képinski, Mononc ‘Serge in solo and several other artists who will set the tone until 1am.

Closer to the hotel, “Le Grand Show de la Saint-Jean-Baptiste” is an official annual gathering that celebrates our unique national character in a spirit of pride and sharing, presenting a show of high caliber artists. A few minutes walk from HOTEL10, in the heart of La Place des Festivals, do not miss this effervescent event that will start at 5:30 PM and go on to the rhythm of our beautiful French language and our culture.

June 24 officially marks the celebrations of Quebec National Day, but also the last day of the very original Montreal Baroque festival that combines discoveries, encounters and surprises. And that is always atypical! The Festival welcomes both renowned musicians and young artists from here and elsewhere who know how to enchant us with their interpretations of the great Baroque classics. You might even be invited to participate in the interpretation of the workshops! Sunday, June 24th, don’t miss the Cupid Ball, a thematic evening on the metamorphosis theme. The show will be interactive, so expect to move! And we cannot wait to see it.

If you prefer electronic music, it is at Piknic Électronik that HOTEL10 suggests you go on June 24th. This outdoor event dedicated to electronic music continues to grow in popularity and creates immersive and social experiences under the sign of usability. Located on Ile Notre-Dame (which is, alone, worth the trip), it brings together thousands of electronic music fans every Sunday of the summer. An exotic and different experience that we suggest you try without moderation, to get completely out of your comfort zone !

For epicureans, “Le Marché des Éclusiers” reopened for the season last May and offers, in addition to an enchanting setting on the water and a summer menu served 7 days a week, a farmer’s market on Thursdays and Saturdays starting in June, where local products will be sold in the heart of Old Montreal. A great opportunity to enjoy summer, discover a spectacular set up and encourage local producers!

Art lovers – like us! – will meet on Victoria Street, which has become pedestrian for the occasion, to immerse oneself in the magic of the Urban Forest, which celebrates its 8th edition this summer. Thanks to its street furniture, public piano and street food trucks every weekday during lunch hours, the Urban Forest is, without a doubt, the ideal place to enjoy a fairly original break just a few steps from HOTEL10. Rich, diversified and completely free programming is also offered all summer.

Canada Day will be held on July 1st at Quai Jacques Cartier in the Old Port of Montreal. A colorful program that will begin at 11:30 AM on the official Montreal Canada Day site, which will allow everyone to celebrate their Canadian pride and our beautiful country. On the program: family activities, outdoor shows and fireworks in the late evening to close the festivities as it should.

Jazz lovers, you’re in luck! The renowned Montreal International Jazz Festival, which is also the largest festival of its kind in the world, will end on July 7th. So take advantage of your stay to go for a walk, just a few minutes walk from the hotel, where you can enjoy more than 1000 concerts on a dozen indoor scenes and a dozen outdoor sites. And the atmosphere is … electrifying!

And, remember, we are offering a 15% discount to all festivalgoers staying at HOTEL10 between Saint-Jean-Baptiste and Canada Day. Our location just a few steps from Place des Festivals is hard to beat, if you want our opinion!
